Calculating and Visualising Borehole Trajectories with the WellCAD Deviation Module
An introduction to the WellCAD Deviation Module calculation, visualisations and reporting workflows regarding borehole trajectories obtained from deviation survey data are included.
In this video, we demonstrate how to calculate Northing, Easting, and True Vertical Depth (TVD) from azimuth and tilt measurements, as well as derive key directional drilling parameters including Closure Distance, Closure Angle, and Dogleg Severity (DLS).
We explore the module’s visualisation capabilities including Bull’s Eye, Vertical Profile, Closure View, 3D Cube, and 3D Cylinder displays and show how to customise trajectory views using symbol spacing, depth markers and depth anchors. You will also learn how to embed deviation charts and dynamic data tables directly into WellCAD report headers for professional reporting and presentation. Finally, we demonstrate how to add and compare multiple well paths within a single deviation project.
Whether you are working in mining, geotechnical investigations, groundwater or directional drilling applications, the WellCAD Deviation Module provides powerful tools for trajectory analysis and visualisation.
